Als Sänger ist Karl Hänsel regelmäßig in Kantaten- und Oratorienkonzerten zu hören, sowohl im Raum Hamburg/Lübeck als auch darüber hinaus. Die Partien des Evangelisten und Arien-Tenors in Bachs Passionen und Oratorien sowie weitere Barockmusik bilden einen Schwerpunkt seiner Tätigkeit. Aber auch chorsinfonische Werke wie Mendelssohns „Elias“ oder Haydns „Schöpfung“ gehören zu seinem Repertoire. Sein Ziel ist dabei immer eine klare, vom Text getragene Gestaltung der Musik.
Karl Hänsel ist seit 2013 als professioneller Chordirigent tätig und hat dabei vielfältige Erfahrungen gesammelt: vom Theater-Kinderchor über Knabenchor, Vokalensemble und Konzertchor bis hin zum Seniorenchor. Er war unter anderem Leiter der Lübecker Knabenkantorei und des Universitätschors Lübeck. Als freischaffender Chorleiter leitet er weiterhin Chorprojekte und übernimmt Vertretungen. Dabei liegen ihm die Arbeit am Chorklang und eine motivierende Probenatmosphäre besonders am Herzen.
Ob für eigene Chöre oder andere Ensembles: Karl Hänsel komponiert und arrangiert immer wieder Musik für Chor. Dafür liefern oft Lieder die erste Inspiration und werden abwechslungsreich bearbeitet und erweitert. Alle Werke sind speziell auf das jeweilige Ensemble und den Anlass abgestimmt und bleiben daher stilistisch vielfältig: Anklänge an das frühe 20. Jahrhundert sind ebenso möglich wie zeitgenössische Vokaltechniken oder experimentellere Formen.
As a singer, Karl Hänsel can be heard regularly in cantata and oratorio concerts, both in the Hamburg/Lübeck area and beyond. The roles of evangelist and aria tenor in Bach's passions and oratorios as well as other baroque music form a focus of his work. However, his repertoire also includes choral symphonic works such as Mendelssohn's "Elijah" and Haydn's "Creation". His aim is always to create a clear interpretation that is supported by the text.
Karl Hänsel has been working as a professional choral conductor since 2013 and has gained a wide range of experience: from theatre children's choirs to boys' choirs, vocal ensembles and concert choirs to senior choirs. Among other things, he was director of the Lübeck Boys' Choir (Lübecker Knabenkantorei) and the Lübeck University Choir. As a freelance choirmaster, he continues to conduct choral projects and take on stand-in roles. Improving the sound of the choir and a motivating rehearsal atmosphere are particularly important to him.
Whether for his own choirs or other ensembles, Karl Hänsel is constantly composing and arranging music for choirs. Songs often provide the initial inspiration and are arranged and expanded in a variety of ways. All works are specially adapted to the respective ensemble and occasion and therefore remain stylistically diverse: echoes of the early 20th century are just as possible as contemporary vocal techniques or more experimental forms.
